Having meditated since 1995, the actor has found it effective in alleviating chronic pain, which a growing body of research supports.  “Life gets more complicated and stressful the older you are. I no longer find [meditation] fun and interesting — I find it a lifesaver,” Danson tells Everyday Health.

She said, “I do transcendental meditation. I’ve been doing it for a year or two now, and it’s changed my life. I never was good at meditating, but that one’s good thing – there are no rules. You just chill with your mantra and you just say it over and over again. No matter what, you’re not doing it wrong. No app. Just silence.”

“I can meditate even if there’s loud noise. Even if I have makeup or my glam team touching me. That’s the beauty of it. I’ve never been so calm and relaxed,” she added.

In a 2011 interview on The Dr Oz Show, Winfrey said she paid for a transcendental meditation course for all her 400 employees.

”And you can’t imagine what has happened in the company, people who used to have migraines, don’t. People are sleeping better, they are having better relationships and they are interacting with other people better. It’s been fantastic.”

“I’m a go, go, go type of person and my whole family are the same, we call my mam Speedy, she hates sitting down.

But it was when I became pregnant first time around, I discovered transcendental meditation, and it literally transformed my life.”

“Before, I’d always been skeptical about meditation, because I couldn’t do it. My brain was too scattered and I couldn’t keep still. The whole “Imagine yourself walking through a field of white flowers …” thing? I can’t do that shit, and I hate people talking to me when I’m meditating.

But TM tapped into something for me; they give you a short mantra that you recite in your brain, and if your brain goes off onto other tangents, then so be it.

It’s still meditation. (I remember when I first spoke to my instructor, I said, “I don’t think I’m doing this right, because my meditation this morning was 20 minutes of me thinking about the last episode of Game of Thrones!”)

I’ve done TM every day consistently for the last year, and I can’t cope without it now; when I meditate for 20 minutes, I feel like I’ve woken up from a refreshing nap.”

Agree with most of the below! When you sort the “perfect health & happiness codswallop” from the actual reality, there can be no doubt that a meditation practice puts the sparkle back into ones everyday life.
