“Having tried meditation techniques, of which there are many offered in the teachings of Yoga, I struggled to find that place of stillness within myself. Not until I learned TM six years ago did I experience the simplicity of bliss. I had been trying too hard. Now I can gently be with my mantra and feel my body release the tensions of my day. TM is now part of my personal yoga practice.” Ruth, Yoga teacher ~ Teesside

“TM is already making a huge positive difference to my life.”

“I guess in terms of why I personally decided to learn TM it was down to wishing for a greater sense of mental wellbeing and looking for a technique to help me switch off and just to relax my brain after a hard day’s stress. I in turn hoped that this could lead to me feeling more positive in myself and hopefully help spark my creativity.
In terms of benefits, I definitely feel TM has helped me become more positive in my outlook and helped me deal with stress in a more constructive way. This was particularly noticeable in the first 6 months after learning it when I felt like a totally different person! I was so much more positive than I ever had been and I wasn’t worrying about the little things anywhere near as much. TM has definitely helped with my memory and concentration levels as well. A lot of things I would struggle to recall prior to TM now seem to come to me a lot easier. I guess the grey matter’s became a little more ordered since I started?! I’m still waiting for that big creative boost, but hopefully that will come as I continue to practice. I know Teresa my wife has a couple of medical conditions that she feels have definitely improved since she has learned TM too.
It’s also great to just be able to take 20 minutes to just switch off and not worry about whatever else may be happening in your life. Before learning TM, I never would’ve believed I could just sit down and think about nothing. I just didn’t think I was the type of person, but amazingly with TM I can do that. I also love the fact that once you learn it, it’s then yours and you don’t have to constantly go to refresher courses or keep having your technique “topped up”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s always nice to attend the group sessions and have my technique retuned a little, but it’s great to know that it’s not essential for me to do that in order to continue practising TM and receiving the benefits. I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to learn in the beginning and to keep it up once you have been taught.
All in all I’d personally highly recommend TM to anyone from all walks of life, particularly if you’re the type of person who can get easily stressed and finds it difficult to relax and switch off. You might think “Well, there’s no way I could sit there thinking about nothing, my mind is too busy and active.” But you’d be surprised at how easy it becomes to do exactly that with practice! And then the benefits you can reap are very positive and clearly noticeable, not just to yourself but by others also.”

In a nutshell, TM is so much easier to do & people are much more likely to keep up the practice. We hear these kind of comments on every TM course we run.

“Having tried many different ways to overcome insomnia, including Mindfulness, I saw an advert in my local paper
for TM & thought I had nothing to lose & everything to gain if it helped.
Comparing Mindfulness – concentrating on the moment basically – but to get to this stage entails a large amount of reading,
understanding & practice. This can be rather daunting to keep up & I, for one, gave up. Whereas TM is simple & easy
to practice on a daily basis. It is immediately enjoyable, rather than something that has to be worked at. One is much more
inclined to keep it up & making sure of putting 20 to 25 minutes aside twice a day.
I have been practising TM for about 7 months now & have found the benefit in improved sleep as well as generally
feeling better.”
