A Little TM (Transcendental Meditation) Story From Northumberland
A Little TM Story From Northumberland
Somewhere around 20/30 years ago, I was in a small market town in Northumberland, putting out A5 TM flyers anywhere that would take them to promote my TM courses. All kinds of shops, hairdressers, cafe’s, police stations, you name it, anyway that had a notice board or a shop window.
I came to a Butchers on the High Street, and thought, well you never know. In I went and asked if they displayed posters, understandably the owner behind the counter asked what it was about, I said “meditation.” He said “what kind of meditation” and of course I replied “Transcendental,” he smiled and said “Oh we did that at school, a teacher came in and did a course, no problem put a poster up.”
A couple of months ago I discovered the same Butcher is working at an out of town location, kind of farm shop and is well know for venison burghers. So I went to get some as a gift for a friend and as he was packing them on the counter, I said “you won’t remember me, but many years ago when you had a shop on the High Street, you took a poster from me on Transcendental Meditation.”
Once again he smiled and in that lovely Northumbrian accent said “I still do it like,” and then looking at me over the top of his glasses, “only once a day mind.” 🙂
I’d guess he’d be in his early 70’s.
