“TM helps to make you more relaxed and clearer thinking, more able to cope with stress.  As a doctor I don’t think it’s just for ill people.  I see it as a quality of life improver.”

Guests were surprised when another lifelong meditator took the stage—a comic some of you may have heard of named Jerry Seinfeld—who apparently maintained his sanity during his hit show “Seinfeld” by meditating during his lunch hour.

“I was doing the TV series in which I was the star of the show, the executive producer of the show, the head writer, in charge of casting and editing, for 24 episodes on network television—not cable—for nine years!” he said. “And I’m just a normal guy. And that was not a normal situation to be in. So I meditated every day. And that’s how I survived the nine years.”

Being sort of funny probably helped, too.

Mr. Jackman revealed that he began meditating in drama school because a friend told him it would help him “be in the moment.  “I was like, ‘This is great! It will help me be a better actor!'” said Mr. Jackman. “And it did help my acting, but it wasn’t too long before I realized it was a lot deeper than just serving me as an actor. It was important for my life, and my anxieties, and how I felt about myself. Slowly, bit by bit, it just chipped away at the bulls—.”
